Slowly, I pushed the door open and craned my neck inside. With no one in sight, I crept in and softly padded down the hall. As I rounded a corner, I spotted a figure seated at a table. She looked up at me and grinned. “Hi!” Her head swivelled ninety degrees. “Guess who's here!” she called into the adjacent doorway.

Almost immediately, a blonde head poked out, and I froze. Her eyes inflated like balloons, and she began sprinting like a cheetah. I was ready this time. I bent down with arms spread, and she leaped into me. Her legs wrapped around my waist and I spun her around, my face buried in the crook of her neck. I stood there, holding her in my arms, our arms wrapped around each other. It had been so long.

“Hi,” she whispered.

I couldn't help but laugh. “Hey.”

Her feet found the floor once more and she stepped back, looking me in the eye. I missed seeing those shining aquamarine eyes staring back at me. We beamed at each other, and I grabbed her and pulled her close again. I never wanted to let go again.

Finally, things were the way they were meant to be again. God is good, all the time.
